Proverbs 28:27 Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.
Have you ever noticed how many verses there are in the Bible that talk about the poor? God makes it very clear that we are to take care of those in need and in this verse He makes it clear that if we just turn and look the other way when we know there is a need we are bringing a curse on ourselves.
I know this is a big topic for me and to be honest it always has been! My heart breaks when I see needs that I cannot meet especially when I know there are those who could help and they are too busy doing other things or they just seem to feel they are above all of that.
Jesus said in Matthew 25:45 “Then he will answer them saying, “Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.” God gives us opportunity to show His love by helping others. What are you doing? There are food pantries that can always use more food, there are Compassion Children waiting for sponsors, there are single parents and homeless people all over the U.S. What is God speaking to your heart about right now that you could do? Don’t hide your eyes, ask God to give you the opportunity today and to continue to grow your opportunities in days to come! I would encourage you today to seek God’s face and ask Him to show you His will for how you can help show the love of Christ to others, don’t wait another day!
