Psalm 119:30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.
You have choices every day to make; will you be faithful to God’s standards and will you be faithful to all that He is asking you to do?
Too often the “freedom in Christ” we have received by His dying on the cross is turned into something that it isn’t. His death brought us freedom from our bondage to sin, not the freedom to sin. We no longer have to provide sacrifices for the forgiveness of sin, He was the sacrifice and we are able to be forgiven because of that! We are called to be holy because He is holy. We are to strive to be more like Him.
God’s love for you is immeasurable, He will meet you where you are, but it is never His desire for you to be enslaved by sin in your life! He died to give you freedom, but it is your choice to live a faithful, pleasing life for Him. Over and over God told the Israelites, “You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.” What does that mean to us today since Jesus’ death on the cross? That means that you are still to be in His word, getting to know Him better and choosing to live a life that is faithful to all that He calls you to. No, we are not called to some sort of Pharisee, legalistic life, we are called to live Spirit-filled lives where we allow Him to guide us in all that we do. This is not a call to create a bunch of new rules, it is a call to allow Him to fill you and lead you. It is a call to be holy because He is holy.
If you want true success in anything in life then as it says in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” It doesn’t matter what you do, you will find true success when all that you do is grounded in Him and His word! If you want the ‘best that is yet to come’, you will only find it in Him!
