Mark 11: 22 – 24 And Jesus answered them, ”Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ’Be taken up and throw into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Quite clearly that was Jesus talking in those verses! Question for you: Is Jesus, the Son of the Most High God, capable of lying? No! No, He is not! He is God the Son, He will not lie, and it is not within His character to lie, so do you believe Him?
We struggle so much with faith. Why? Jesus got so frustrated with the lack of faith on the earth when He was here walking on the earth. He couldn’t believe that the people didn’t take God at His word and we don’t seem to be much better at it today.
We are called to have, as my friend Dianna said yesterday, “Crazy faith”! If what you are praying for lines up with the Word of God then you need to believe! Faith is not just knowing God can, it is believing that He will do what is best for you! It is believing that He will show up when He has said He would! Now, you must also remember that when it comes to praying for other people, they do have free will and God has given us the free will to choose. He will not force that other person any more than He will force you to do what is right and believe. If you are praying for someone else, pray for them to develop a heart that is open to His leading, and also pray that He will give you the strength to continue to follow Him even if they don’t. The key to praying is believing that if we knew what He knows we would be praying for what He would choose. Trust is a huge thing when it comes to relationships and that includes your relationship with God! Do you trust Him? I seem to be continually learning to trust Him more. I have been through some “scary” things in my life and let me tell you, there’s really nothing else to do other than trust Him. Well, you could choose to get angry and frustrated with Him, but what purpose will that serve? Even though I know there are a lot of people out there who say that it is okay to get angry with God, I haven’t found scripture to back that up. In fact, the Israelites grumbling seemed to cause them more harm than good. God is for you, so when you are struggling the best thing is to run to Him, not from Him!
God loves you and wants His best for you. Whatever you are facing today, He wants to be there and He wants to see you through. He wants you to have faith that will move those mountains that are in front of you, standing in your way of serving Him more! His desire is for your best. Trust Him and believe Him. Don’t waiver in your faith if what you are praying and believing for lines up with scripture! Pray! Take your thoughts captive to ward off all doubt and believe God for what He has told you!
Seek His face! Pray without reservation, believing that He will do what He has promised. Get some 3×5 cards out or some paper and write down every scripture you can find that fits your situation or promise you feel God has given you and carry it with you and when you start to doubt, pull them out and read them! You can start with Psalm 121:1-2, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains ~ where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” If you are struggling with your faith, pray as the father of the child who was possessed in Mark 9: 24 did, Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Let’s pray today for “crazy faith”!
