What Does It Take…

Hebrews 9:13-14, “For if sprinkling ceremonially unclean persons with the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer restores their outward purity; then how much more the blood of the Messiah, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself to God as a sacrifice without blemish, will purify our conscience from works that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Is there a purpose for your life?  Yes, of course, there is!  We were made to glorify and serve God.  Having grown up in the church all my life I know those words can mean so many different things to each of us.  I can remember when I was younger thinking that if you were “serving God” that meant that you were either a missionary or you held some position or type of service in the church.  There’s so much more to it than that!

Everyone is called to serve and glorify God.  Whatever it is you do that God has put on your heart to do and has given you the skills to do is your service to God.  It doesn’t matter if you are a janitor at the school, someone who cleans houses, a stay-at-home parent, a school teacher, a police officer, an on-air personality…., the list can go on and on here, but whatever it is you do, you are called to do it in a way that will bring glory to God and serve others.  We are told in Colossians 2:6-7, “Therefore, just as you received the Messiah Yeshua as Lord, keep living your life united with Him.  Remain deeply rooted in Him; continue being built up in Him and confirmed in your faith, the way you were taught, so that you overflow in thanksgiving.” (TCJSB).  Is your life “deeply rooted in Him”?  Too often we tuck Him in somewhere that works for our busy schedules instead of living our lives around Him. Keep Him first place in all you do.

These verses in Hebrews are talking about Jesus dying for our sins and that is where this part of the verse came in.  He died on the cross so we could be cleansed from our sins and we could serve the Living God!  That is true freedom in Christ!  Freedom in Christ doesn’t give you the right to live, talk, and dress any way you choose, it gives you the freedom from sin and the victory over it to be all that He created you to be!  God doesn’t want anything to hold you back from serving Him.  He wants you to experience the best you that you can be because that is who He created you to be.

Ask God today how you can serve Him better in all that you do!  Is there something He has been asking you to do or change?  Do it!  Take that bold leap of faith and dive into all that He is calling you to be.  Life is much shorter, here on this earth than we seem to think about so put your whole heart and soul into giving Him all you’ve got!  Trust Him, knowing that when you allow Him to guide you in all that you do you can know that truly His best is yet to come!  “Throw your heart over the fence and the rest of you will follow!”
