Psalm 119:105, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”
Learning to fully trust God is a lifelong journey. Because of life experiences and our desire for everything to be fixed now in our lives. We tend to want to just jump in and fix things ourselves or go our own way or find someone who can do it for us, but that is not what God’s plan is. God wants your trust, that is where your faith comes from ~ trust! Without trust, there is no faith!
One night years ago, living in the Northern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, before cell phones…. My husband was working nights and there was an older couple who would pick me and my three children up for church on Wednesday nights. One very cloudy night they dropped us off and we thanked them and watched them pull out of the driveway, and we headed into the garage to go into the house. When we got inside the garage I reached for the doorknob and realized it was locked! I knew the front door and the sliding glass doors to the house were locked because I had double-checked them before we left! There I was with high heels on, an infant, a three-year-old, and a five-year-old, no flashlight, no phone, and it was pitch dark outside and the landlord lived between a quarter of a mile and a half mile down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere! We couldn’t just stay in the garage so I looked outside where it was pitch dark, you couldn’t see anything, and prayed and told God, I needed Him to help me to see in order to get there safely with these kids. We got to the end of our driveway and turned left on the road and there was the light! I looked up and there was a hole in the clouds just big enough for the moon. I prayed that it would stay until we got there! We made it to the house and as my landlord, Dick Sommer, was driving us back to the house, he asked how on earth I could see to walk to their house, I told him and of course, because of his faith in God, he wasn’t totally surprised.
Just as God was willing to shine light so we could see that night, He is able to shine light on your situation and your journey through life. This world is a dark place and if you are looking in the wrong place for direction you could end up somewhere you don’t want to be. You don’t have to be going through a storm in life, we weren’t, it was just too cloudy to see, but He still wants to shed light so you can follow the path He has for you! Jeremiah 29:11-13 isn’t just for when you are struggling, those verses are for every day! “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Seek Him with your whole heart today. Ask Him to shine His light on the path He has for you so you can become all He created you to be. Trust Him that truly His best is yet to come!
