Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
More faith is gained as you become overcome with awe and respect for who God is! This is why we cannot try to act like somehow He is on our level. “His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways!” (Isaiah 55:8) That in itself is comforting! There should be a healthy fear ~ He is a Holy God, there should be a reverence and awe of who He is! It is way too common these days for people to act like God doesn’t exist, walking, talking, and behaving in any way they choose until they need something from Him or they are going through a terrible storm in life. It doesn’t work that way! How can you have faith that God can and will do what you need Him to do if you don’t see Him for Who He is? You can’t!
Faith comes from knowing Him and trusting Him. When you become so full of awe for Who He is and all that He has done then your faith will grow and you will see Him move and work in your life. When you look at other religions they have an unhealthy fear of their gods, who aren’t gods, while Christians appear to have been lulled into thinking that our God is somehow just a “buddy” that can be treated or talked to any way we choose. That is why you see people of other religions passionate about their beliefs while too often Christians are trying to blend in. Now, don’t get Pharisee weird! That wins over no one! Get to know Him and the power of His resurrection which is from the Holy Spirit that lives in you! He has put inside you what you need to grow in Him and to have the fruits of His Spirit so you can live a life that will honor Him and will reflect Who He is so others will see Him. It would be unwise to trust another person that you don’t know and it’s unlikely that you would, and likewise, faith and trust will only come from knowing Him! His laws were put in place to protect us, He is not trying to do you harm. God loves you and the more you know Him the more you will recognize that fact. He is not sitting there just hoping you will do something wrong so He can bop you! He is cheering you on wanting you to do and become all He created you to be. His desire is for you to follow His plan for your life because it is a good plan and it will bring glory to Him.
Wherever you are in life today, ask Him to fill you with the desire to learn to trust Him more. There are no easy roads in life so why not choose the one that He is on and is calling you to walk with Him? He sees you and He knows your name and He knows what is best. He is asking you to trust Him with it all today because He loves you! Do you know of any better plan? I can assure you there isn’t one. Allow His love for you to just cover you today. Ask Him to help you trust Him. Write down Jeremiah 29:11-13 and carry it with you. Dig in and seek Him with your whole heart and watch as He works in your life and the lives of those around you. Don’t wait for disaster to come! Seek Him today. Be in awe of what an awesome God we serve ~ the One and only God of all and He is seeking you out today!
