Don’t Wait ~

Psalm 63:1,  “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for you;  My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.”

I can truly say, that my happy place is sitting and studying the Word of God, that is my most fulfilling time, it has even become like “comfort food” when I am stressed or struggling.  Now, I know not everyone has time to sit for hours studying, reading, and praying because we are all called to different things, so I am by no means saying that is what everyone is supposed to do. In fact, I would encourage you to find what God has called you to do if you haven’t already because that is where you will feel fulfilled.  That is the place where when you are doing it you are passionate and it fills that deep longing in your heart.  No matter what it is, if God has called you to it and you do it with a heart to serve Him you are putting a smile on His face!

I have to admit that when I first started studying and writing, there were days when I struggled to fit it in.  I had good intentions but my days would often get away from me and the next thing you know I was trying to fit reading my Bible in before I went to bed and I was so tired I could barely comprehend what I was reading.  Then one day God burdened my heart to get up earlier, before anyone else was up, and spend that time with Him.  Let me tell you, it made all the difference in the world in my entire day.  Especially on those days when I woke up feeling as though life had already run me over and my day hadn’t even begun, but the burdens of the day before or the storms I was facing weighed so heavy I didn’t want to get out of bed.  So part of “Early will I seek you;” for me was literally training myself to get up earlier to spend time with Him.

Now, probably one of the most important concepts of seeking Him early is to not wait until a storm comes into your life.  That opens doors for satan to have a field day with you because if your mind isn’t being renewed with the Word of God you are more susceptible to satan’s lies.  If you struggle to start reading start with a few verses in Psalms, especially if you are feeling weighed down.  God will bless your efforts to get to know Him more.  If you are someone who already spends time reading every day, that is awesome!  Keep going, keep asking God to show you more, to give you fresh eyes as you read.

No matter where you live, we can truly say that it all feels like you are living in a dry land where there is no water.  The world is so upside down and backward it amazes me how quickly it became so dark.  The only way to avoid being sucked in by lies, or to find peace and joy is by spending time with God!  Don’t neglect your time with Him. Make sure you go to church and surround yourself with other people who are seeking God.  Who you surround yourself with was never more important than it is today.  Think for a minute about the difference it makes if you have one candle in a room or ten candles in a room where there is no other light.  When we all come together the light of God will shine brighter in this ever-increasingly dark world!

Sometimes any website link can get stuck in your browser and they don’t refresh as they should. Try typing the link in instead of using the one you have been using and then it should refresh. You won’t have to do that every time, I find if I use a website a lot, it just randomly happens. Let me know if that works. Thank you!
