Luke 5:4-7, When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word, I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats so that they began to sink.
Jesus told Peter to throw his nets out again and you can almost feel Peter’s feelings of okay, I will do it, but you will see…. I mean they had been fishing all night because nighttime is typically the best time and if they didn’t catch anything all night, why on earth would it be profitable to try again?
Sometimes God may put something in your heart to do and you may do it for a while and then it flops, or you feel called by Him to leave it and do something else, or maybe you got excited and figured He meant right then so you jumped in and it didn’t work. Then out of nowhere one day you feel like He is telling you to go back and try again. God has His reasons for calling you away from something for a while, usually, it is for something you need to learn or there may be something else in your life that needs your attention for a time, but whatever the case may be don’t ignore it if you are feeling called to go back and try again. Pray about it and be open to whatever He is asking you to do. Don’t push it away because you have “been there, done that”, ask Him if He is bringing you back to it. Don’t jump in without asking Him if that is His will, but don’t miss it if it is.
God loves to show up in ways in our lives so no one can deny that it is Him! Whether you have tried before or you believe He is calling you to something new, do it with all your heart. Honor Him by doing whatever He has placed before you in such a way that others see Him. Don’t let anything or anyone stand between you and whatever God leads you to! Seek His face! Keep your “Yes” on the table and open your heart and mind to follow Him wherever He may lead! As the old saying goes, “Throw your heart over the fence and the rest of you will follow!”
