Proverbs 16:9, A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Have you ever been walking down the stairs and as you got to what you thought was the bottom, you missed a step and the jarring throughout your body was something you weren’t going to forget soon? While you can’t go back and redo that, your brain reminds you for a while to look to be sure you are really on that last step. When you are walking with the Lord and He is ordering your steps, you can’t miss a step like that because you may change your route and do your own thing, go back up the stairs, but in order to move forward with His plans and His direction, you will be brought back to that step.
I think most Christians have had times when they have wondered if they missed something. Either they think they missed His will completely and they will never have the opportunity again, or maybe they feel as though they missed doing something He had for them to do. Whatever the case may be, trust that He will bring you back to it. It may not be the exact same situation, but if it is important to Him and a step He feels is needed, then He is going to bring you back to it. We can’t hopscotch our way through. If you are following Him, then you can know that He is not lax about guiding you; He is always paying attention. He sees you and He knows what step you need to take next. Don’t allow impatience to sway you into taking a path that He isn’t taking you down. Wait! Waiting is part of trusting, and you have no clue what He may either be saving you from, or the blessings He may be bringing you to. Either way, delays often come when we try skipping a step or taking our own way, so if you are feeling in a hurry, the fastest way to get where He is leading is to wait on Him.
Only God can lead you to become all you were created you to be. The world would like to get you to believe that you can “manifest and become” whatever you want to be, and the Bible tells us to seek God and His righteousness and He will direct our steps in ways we could never dream. While there are so many things out there that may entice you only becoming who you were created you to be will truly be fulfilling. What God has planned for you is more than likely beyond your wildest of dreams so trying to find your way without Him will very likely cause you to miss out on some of the greatest blessings of your life, most importantly a close relationship with Him. Seek Him, don’t waste time on things that are just distracting you from His best, ask Him what His dreams and plans for your life are, then you can know that His best for you is truly yet to come!
