James 5:12. But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
God knows what is in every person’s heart! With Him, there is no “fake it till you make it scenario.” We need to be confident that the words coming out of our mouths are true and that they honor God. Matthew 12:36, But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” As Christians, we need to be careful not to say things just to fit in. We can’t be wishy-washy in our beliefs. We need to know what His Word has to say, and then we need to stand with confidence on it!
1 Samuel 16:6 – 7, When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him, for the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Be like David, so when God looks at your heart, He likes what He sees! God has a plan for you, but it isn’t one where you spend your days concerned more about what other people think than what He thinks! Choose to live for Him and not others! Make sure that you are walking closely with Him and ask Him for the discernment to know when someone is misleading you. God sees, and only He truly knows every person’s heart. That is also a good reason to be careful not to listen to gossip, or it could land you on the wrong side of what God is doing. The time we live in is full of satan’s attacks, so it is best to avoid gossip at all costs. We should be more focused on sharing God’s love and truth than harmful, needless words.
Now, the freedom you will find when you let go of what others think about you and whether or not they like you will refresh your spirit! The only thing that really matters in life is what you do for God and how you follow Him! It is His opinion of you and how you live and what you say that matters in the end. Too many people want to follow people who can either benefit them in some way or have money. Honor God in all you do, and then, no matter what things may look like today, you will find His blessing and peace in your life! He created you for great things, but it starts with your heart and your words! Your words, whether they are true or just meaningless verbiage, will reveal what is in your heart! So start today and seek God with all your heart! Invite Him in to reveal to you what needs to change! Don’t hold anything back and don’t worry about what others may think, it is His opinion that matters!
Have a Blessed day!
