Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
How much better would every day be if we start it and end it with this request? I don’t know about you, but just everyday things can sometimes really take it’s toll on my attitude. I need God to renew a RIGHT spirit within me all the time. You notice he first asks for a clean heart, that is the first step to a right spirit. You cannot have a right spirit and be practicing sin in your daily life. Once you give Satan a foothold, he’s in and he will work on your daily attitude and weaknesses every step of the way. As women we truly set the tone for our household. Are we speaking kindness, truth and trying to have a more positive influence in our families or are we known as negative and grumpy?
As Dennis Waitley once said, “First we make our attitudes, then our attitudes make us.” How true that statement is! What you think about you become and it is what we think about that forms our attitudes. And in life, more often than not, attitude affects everything! In verse 12 of this chapter he says, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with thy free spirit.” That is the best and most freeing thought process we could have on a daily basis to be held up by His free spirit and there is no greater joy than what we have when we first get saved and know we have that relationship with Him!
Are you letting life get you down instead of allowing God to hold you up with His free Spirit? Life gets overwhelming at times but how we treat other people in the process is the test of what kind of person we really are on the inside. It shows just exactly how much of our burdens we carry alone and how much we give to Him so we can be free. Start today, no matter where you are in life. We can always have a little more joy and a better attitude in our personal lives, a lot of times it comes down to our choice of how we are looking at things.
