2 Kings 8:5
And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that behold the woman whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My Lord, Oh King, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”
Elisha had told the woman that there was going to be a famine in the land for seven years so she needed to take her family somewhere else until it was over. They packed up and left their land and house and at the end of the seven years she was headed back to beg the king to have it all restored to her now that the famine was over.
I can imagine there was a lot of dread and fear embedded in her mind as she was headed out to plead her case with the king. What if he didn’t care? What if he told her no? Where would they go? What would they do? How would they survive? She doesn’t appear to be much of a worrier but when you have the responsibility of your household on your shoulders you can’t help but have those thoughts of “what if”.
It was no coincidence that the King had asked Gehazi to tell him about Elisha and the miracles he had seen God do through Elisha at the time the woman was headed there to ask the King for her land. God had a plan, the woman was truly trying to operate within the will of God in everything she did and everything was falling into place.
