Psalm 119:162
I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.
I desperately wanted to put an exclamation mark after that verse! Ladies, we live in a wonderful and yet terrible time. We have so many conveniences if you stop and think about it that were not known years ago and yet the world seems to have gone mad. All of the conveniences in the world don’t make up for how far away from God people have gotten. I am even appalled at the anger I see when I drive anywhere. The slightest thing seems to bring out unwarranted anger. What the Bible says is wrong everyone is trying to say is right these days, there are constant threats of war everywhere you turn and acts of terror ……. the world has gone mad……… but God is still on His throne!
So, what are you to do when it seems as though your world is falling apart around you? What happens when your finances seem to have exploded and you are trying to figure out how to put the pieces back together? What can you do when you find out that your spouse is cheating on you? What do you do when your children are living a life that leaves you broken hearted for them? Where can you find hope when the loss you have experienced is overwhelming and you just can’t seem find your way out from under the heavy cloak of darkness that seems to be covering you?
Psalm 120:1 says, “In my distress I called to the Lord and he answered me. and then in chapter 121, verse 1 and 2, “I lift up my eyes to the hills, From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Wow, think about it! Your help comes from the Lord who made everything you see, and then some! Could anything you face be too difficult for Him to handle? Could He possibly carry your burdens for you and give you the strength to face another day? Could He mend that wounded heart of yours and restore it?
When you are facing fears of all of the danger surrounding you, where can you turn? Psalm 121: 3 – 8 says, “He will not let your foot be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper, The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”
What I am trying to tell you is this: No matter what it is you face today, your hope is found in Him and in His Word! That is why I wanted to put an exclamation mark at the end of the verse at the top! God’s treasure for your soul that will give you hope for your day is found in His word! If you need answers, if you need hope, if you need more faith, if you need healing, the place to look is in His word! Pour your heart out to Him and ask Him to give you what you need as you read His word. Draw close to Him and allow Him to draw close to you! Don’t miss out on all of the wonderful things in His word today! His word is truly like treasure! There is so much in His word that we will never fully understand or comprehend it all, but I would encourage you to dig in, even if it is one verse at a time until you find you just can’t seem to get enough of it! You will find the Hope you need in there and the healing and the love you have so desperately longed for! Look for it! Ask Him to guide you! Whatever you do, don’t miss out on one more day of all the treasure He has in store for you in His word! The best is yet to come!
