This is an area in my life that I am having difficult with. I always enjoyed a glass of wine maybe 2 or 3. Since I became a christian I wonder is it wrong to still drink wine. What does the scripture say about it? Wanda

I know this can be a very controversial topic with different denominations as well as just individual believers. My personal belief is that the Bible is clear that we should not drink to excess but even in 1 Timothy 5:23 the Bible says to drink wine for your stomach sake and other infirmities. And in Titus 2:3 it talks about older women not being given to much wine so in other words, moderation not drinking themselves silly where they may not be an example to others. I also believe that as Paul says there are things we can do but at times we should refrain if we may cause someone else to stumble so in other words if you are out to eat with someone who either has no self control with drinking or maybe you are out to dinner with someone you know it would offend, I wouldn’t have a glass of wine. It is really a matter of discretion and self control pretty much like anything else. We are called to be in control of ourselves at all times and it sounds as if you are being careful.

I hope this helps and of course I am not trying to offend anyone else.
      God bless,

I used to drink before dinner with my husband when he was alive. Because I am female more than one drink has an effect on me and I had to ask the question of myself “Why do I need more than one drink?”. The conclusion I came to was that it made me feel better. God has now taken the place of that insecurity as I look to him to be filled. The bible says “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit”. I feel the closeness of God so much more now as I rely upon him for my wellbeing. His love meets all our needs.
