Psalm 19:14. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
What are you thinking about? What is the one thing you base most of your decisions on? If you have to make a choice today of whether or not to be accepted or “cool” at work today, will you go with the crowd or stand up for what the Bible says is right?
As women, our minds are constantly going, usually about more than one thing at a time. We are never just “blank”, we are not capable of not having anything running through our mind! We absorb so much that is going on around us that we can even see it when we close our eyes at night. I always thought everyone was like that but men aren’t. We went on a safari in Africa a few years back and at the end of the day after seeing all different kinds of animals in the wild, a lot of which I had never actually seen before other than in pictures, I asked Bill what he saw when he closed his eyes and his response was, “dark”! I asked, “don’t you see animals when you close your eyes?” and he said “no, my eyes are closed, I just see dark”. I figured maybe it was just random so I asked another guy on the trip what he saw when he closed his eyes and he said, “dark”. All of that to say, Ladies, our minds are going all the time, we need to make sure that part of that time is focused solely on God.
If we focus our hearts in to meditate on God and we spend time with him on a regular basis the words of our mouths will be right. It is out of the heart that we speak. Matthew 15:18-19 “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.”
Spend time in God’s Word, focus on Him. Spend time praising Him! Turn on Some praise and worship music! When you need to make a decision, seek Him and His answers. Protect your time alone with God. Pray for Him to fill your heart with what is good and right and seek His guidance in all that you do. You can tell a lot about a person and their walk with God by what comes out of their mouth. Let’s seek to be all we can be today for Him!
