Don’t Be Afraid To Change

Luke 19: 15-26 When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him so that he might know what they had gained by doing business.  The first came before him saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.’  And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant!  Because you have been faithful in a very little, you call have authority over ten cities.’  And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’  And he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’  Then another came saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; for I was afraid of you because you are a severe man.  You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’  He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant!  You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?  Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have collected it with interest?’  And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’  And they said to him ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’  I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.’

Are you so locked into what God called you to do several years ago that you haven’t allowed Him to move you forward into anything else?  God may call you to do different things in different seasons of your life.  Maybe you were a missionary and now you are a janitor at a local high school ~ you are still a missionary, just to a different set of people!  Let your light shine, wherever you are because that is the will of God for you right here, right now!  You can make a difference no matter where you are if you allow God to shine through you!  If He isn’t moving you it is because He has something for you to do where you are!  Sometimes we have the misconception that there is only 1 call of God on our lives and we lock ourselves in so tight that if He tries to move us we think we have failed somehow and that isn’t the case!  Maybe you thought you would do “this” until you retire and pass on into eternity and God has literally had to shake you up to move you!

Maybe you have given up on that “call of God” because it hasn’t happened yet so you think you have missed it!  Don’t ever give up!  If God has put it in your heart to do something for Him then He will bring it to pass!  Don’t buy Satan’s lies that it is too late!  If you are still here on this earth, it is never too late!

Have you become stagnant in your walk with God?  Have you settled into where you are spiritually because it “works” for what you do and the people you work with?  Have you stopped striving for a closer relationship with Him?  Dig in and spend some quality time in His Word and on your knees so you can be all He has created you to be.  This isn’t a ‘fake it til you make it’ thing, God knows your heart.

It could be time for a “check-up”.  Ask yourself if you are just doing the same old, same old because that is the way you have always done it or are you truly seeking God in the decisions you are making?  Are you relevant or are you just coasting?  Are you truly making a difference in your corner of the world that God has given you to influence?  Don’t be afraid of change if it is change that God is leading you to!  Be more afraid of being like the servant who did nothing than the ones who were willing to “do something”!  It is very rare that you get called to do just one thing, at one job, doing it the same way for your entire life!  You may do the same thing as a vocation or you may not!  You may be a salesperson one day and an author the next!  You may be selling cars one day and moving to the mission field the next. You may be working in an office one day and going back to school the next! God may move your mission field!  You may be in one country and God may move you to a different one!  Don’t shut out His plan!  Keep your “yes” on the table, allow Him to continue to work in your life, and keep all that you do relevant for His glory!  Don’t let change scare you!  Pray about all that you are doing and that you feel called to do and allow Him to guide you!  Yes, it can be very uncomfortable but you want to be used to your fullest abilities, so let go and follow Him!  The best is yet to come!  You may find that all that you have been desiring and looking for in serving Him with your life is on the other side of that door that you are afraid to walk through!  Seek godly counsel (make sure it’s godly, not everyone willing to give advice is from God) and follow Him!
