Psalm 12: 6-8,
The words of ADONAI are pure words,
silver in a melting-pot set in the earth,
Refined and purified seven times over.
You, ADONAI, protect us;
Guard us forever from this generation ~
The wicked strut about everywhere
When vileness is held in general esteem.
Those last two lines pretty much sum up how things appear in the world these days, where wrong is considered right and standing up for what the Word of God says is considered wrong. The world has turned into a crazy place, the level of confusion is over the top, and no one is supposed to oppose the destruction. If you aren’t grounded in your faith in God, that could turn into a very insecure and scary place for you. God laid out in His word that all of these things would come, and that is why we must put all of our faith and hope in Him! If you aren’t already, I encourage you to pursue God with all your heart. People may fall to your right and left because they are doing the “fake it till you make it” thing, but there’s no faking your relationship with God! Don’t allow their falling to discourage you, pray for them, and follow God! Take your eyes off other people and put them back on God. If you are pursuing Him, then more than likely all hell is coming against you, but you know “Greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world.” The battle is the Lord’s! Don’t lose heart. Dig into His Word and don’t neglect your time with Him in prayer!
This Psalm is a psalm of David, and let’s face it, that man faced a lot! The more David did the right thing, the more he was opposed at times. He had to flee for His life countless times, but he held onto his faith in God’s faithfulness! That is what you have to do when everything around you is chaos ~ you must take the time to remind yourself of who God is! That is how David encouraged himself in God. He reminded himself of all of the times God showed up faithfully in Israel’s history and even in David’s personal life. Life can be a bit crazy out there, but regardless of how crazy it may get, God is still on His throne! Fix your eyes on Him and spend quality time alone with Him. Don’t allow fear to sneak in because “He who called you is faithful!” (1 Corinthians 1:9) satan wants to distract you with everything going on in the world, so you must focus on God and what He has for you today! We constantly have people raging about political issues and while there are some we need to oppose by standing on the Word of God, in a godly manner ~ if Christians became as passionate about their walk with God and becoming more like His Son who is the King of kings and Lord of lords, we wouldn’t face half of these things. It’s time to be more concerned about becoming more like Him than covering what we don’t want to work on, that He is convicting us about, with His grace. His grace was never meant to be a scapegoat; it is given because of His love for us, which should move our hearts to love Him and serve Him more.
Trust Him! He alone is God! He is your protector, provider, vindicator, healer, and waymaker. He is everything you need, and He is faithful! Whatever is going on around you, in your life or in the lives of those you love, take it all to Him! Trust that He will be there and He will see you through whatever comes your way! Our time is short here, so let’s make the best of it by serving Him and sharing with those around us that truly His best is yet to come!
