Judges 1:29
And Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.

When Israel was getting ready to go into the Promised Land Moses had made very clear what they were to do. God was going to give them victory throughout all the land, but His instructions for the people of Israel were: “But in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes, but you shall devote them to complete destruction, the Hittites and the Amorites the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded, that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominable practices that they have done for their gods, and so you sin against the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 20: 16-18

God was giving them victory and the Promised land but His word for them was to not leave any open doors to sin. Girl, what about you? Have there been areas that God has given you victory in but you are leaving an open door to become a slave to that thing again? God wants to give you complete victory and He wants to bless you, the blessings come when we obey. You can live in victory in the Promised land having overcome your battles but if you are teetering every day on the edge of going back to those old habits or addictions you don’t have the full blessing and victory God has in mind for you!

Are you struggling with an addiction? Is your marriage struggling and God has laid on your heart changes you need to make but you don’t feel your spouse deserves it yet so you are holding onto your bitterness instead? Is there something God has called you to do but it would mean a drastic difference in income or lifestyle? What is it that God is asking you to do and you are willing to go half way but not quite willing yet to give it all to Him?

We are called to be different in the sense that we are not just doing our own thing we are called to follow God with our whole heart. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 “Therefore, Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. do not touch what is unclean and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

I would like to encourage you today to allow God to fully lead you in all that you do! Give it all to Him, stop holding back. Do the uncomfortable if He has asked you to and you will find His blessing on your obedience. Don’t settle for less than God’s best for your life, your relationships and His call on your life! Give it all to Him and know that the best is yet to come!
