Acts 12:5b. but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.

Is there something you need to commit to “earnest” prayer today?  The definition of ‘earnest’ is ~ resolute, serious, sincere imply having qualities of depth and firmness, earnest implies having a purpose and being steadily and soberly eager in pursuing it.  In other words, this is a prayer that is full of determination and seriousness, something that really runs deep in your heart!  Do you have a burden on your heart that needs earnest prayer?

These people in the church were earnestly praying for Peter who was in prison.  Funny thing is, they were praying their hearts out but didn’t believe it when the maid told them that Peter was standing outside at the gate.  Peter had to keep banging on the gate to get them to come let him in.  I think, at times, we all have that tendency.  We pray so long and hard for something that when it comes, we have a hard time believing that it could be true!  We believe in prayer and yet don’t always have faith for the answer, but God hears our hearts and does what is best for all concerned.

With everything that is going on in the world right now, we all have something that we should be earnest in our prayers about.  Anger, fear, anxiety, violence, ignorance, and hate have been at the forefront of the news and social media because it seems to be taking over.  All of those things are stirred up by satan, not God!  Remember this verse today:  “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.”  (2 Timothy 1:7)  Be the example.  

God wants to hear from you today!  He wants you to pour your heart out to Him and He wants you to believe for the answer to come banging on your door!

When your answer comes, give Him all the glory for all He has done, is doing and will do in your life and on your behalf!  He is the God who sees, He cares, He heals, He loves, He rescues and He is truly the God of miracles!  Believe Him for it today!  The best is yet to come!
