Genesis 41:1
After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile…..

Two years before this, Joseph had hoped that the Chief Butler would remember him and get him out of prison for having interpreted his dream but the Butler forgot him. There are times waiting for deliverance or answers can seem to take forever. As I was reading this, this morning I kept noticing that Joseph had God’s favor in all that he did and my first thought was how fortunate he was because he had God’s favor and it was so obvious to everyone around him that he had favor with them as well. Then I stopped for a moment and remembered where he was! First of all, he had been sold by his brothers so he was a slave, then he was falsely accused and thrown in prison. Do you think he really felt as though God’s favor was all over him? I am sure he had moments when he wondered what on earth had happened and what was going to happen to him and how on earth could all of this be the will of God? There may have even been times when Joseph thought, “if this is God’s favor, what would His discipline look like?” But no matter what, Joseph was faithful and served to the best of his ability as he waited on God.

Where are you in this story today? Do you find yourself waiting on God? Do you feel as though you are in prison waiting on God’s deliverance? Have you been falsely accused? (Being falsely accused can include verbal and emotional abuse; when someone belittles you or is verbally abusive they are walking hand in hand with Satan falsely accusing you to make you feel unworthy ~ don’t buy into that! That is a whole other Bible Study for another day….) Don’t miss seeing how God is showing you His favor though as you walk through this and are faithful to Him. We all want God’s favor on our lives, sometimes we allow our circumstances to blind us and we don’t see all the ways that God is showing us His favor through it all.

If Joseph had been released when the Chief Butler had been released who knows where he would have been when the Pharaoh needed his dreams interpreted. God was working on his behalf even though Joseph couldn’t see it. He probably was about to lose hope when all of a sudden he was told to get cleaned up and shaved and the next thing you know he was standing before Pharaoh and then second in command only to him. One minute you may be in the depths of despair and the next find your answer beating down your door! Don’t give up hope! Hold on to your faith and remain faithful until that call comes ~ it will come……….. God is always faithful and He will honor your faithfulness! The best is yet to come!
