Habakkuk 1:1-5
The oracle that Habakkuk the prophet saw:
(Habakkuk’s complaint) “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you, “Violence!” and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me, strife and contention arise. So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous so justice goes forth perverted.”
(The Lord’s Answer) “Look among the nations, and see, wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”
You may not be able to see what God is working on but trust Him, He is working on your behalf! God is so good and gracious and wonderful that He doesn’t always tell us what He is doing because we aren’t always ready to know. He works on and in us so we are prepared for what He is about to do.
So often we are so busy praying for God to do what we want Him to do that we are blind to the work He is doing in us. Sometimes the answer doesn’t lie in His “changing” that other person. Only God knows the heart and there are times that other person is just not going to change. God will put everything in our paths for us to follow Him, come back to Him when we have gone our own way, and He will do what needs to be done to draw us back to Him, but the choice is still ours. It is God’s will for that person to come back to Him, but don’t close the door to God working in you while you wait. Open your heart and mind to what God is trying to do in you. As He says in verse 5 above, ‘if you knew what He is working on it would blow your mind.’ He loves you! He wants His best for you! Allow Him to work in and through you regardless of what you can or cannot see Him doing. The change you need may be in you and it is going to be great!
Don’t focus on what all you see going on around you, focus on Him. Know that you can trust Him even if it seems as though you are waiting on “nothing”. Trust Him, you aren’t! He is always working on our behalf, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is hope! There is always hope because we serve a God who just oozes Hope and love and He wants His best for you! I would like to encourage you today to give all of your cares to Him today and allow Him to continue to work on your behalf and in you! Trust Him, knowing that when you give it all to Him and you are following Him truly the best is yet to come!
