Romans 15:5-6, May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Maybe we all need to take a step back for a second and evaluate our attitudes. There’s a lot going on right now and there are a lot of upset and angry people. There are people who are consumed with fear. There are people out there just looking for a fight. We need to be people who are determined to be the example. As the old saying goes, “What would Jesus do?” Seriously! What would Jesus be doing during all of this craziness? What does He want us to do?
He wants us to have the same mind toward each other that He has and He is the one who can give that to us. It is vital every single day of your life to keep your eyes fixed on Him. We know that while we live here on this earth there will be struggles and downright horrible days. How will you handle them? God has promised to give us the encouragement and endurance we need to face the day and to have an attitude that will bring Him glory. Are you willing to allow Him to do that?
The majority of your day is full of choices: what will you wear, will you drink your coffee black, will you eat that donut for breakfast or choose something healthy, what will you have for dinner, how will you treat your family, friends and those you meet? The list goes on and on and on, but if you stop and think about it, many of those questions are more important than we acknowledge. If every day you get up and eat donuts instead of choosing something more healthful to eat, while they may taste good your body will pay a price. Our decisions matter. I am constantly telling Abby; “don’t just make good choices, make the best choice.” God has promised to do His part in helping us live the lives we are called to live, the choice is yours whether or not you are going to allow Him to. The world needs answers and those answers are only going to be found in Him. Are you willing to be that example today and allow God to give you His attitude and love for others today?
