He Will Do It Again!

1 Samuel 17:33,  And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

There will never be a time when God puts something in front of you to do that you won’t have naysayers or some sort of opposition.  If we look at Saul’s perspective from a human standpoint it is understandable that he would feel that way especially since God’s Spirit was no longer with Saul.  David’s response though is how we are called to see those giants that stand in our way:

1 Samuel 17:34-37,  But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.  Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.  Moreover,” David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

David did exactly what God had told the Israelites to do and that is to remember all that He had done!  When you face storms, giants, mountains that won’t move or anything else in life and satan comes along to mock you just as Goliath did David, your best defense and guard for your mind is to remind satan of all of the things God has done in the past!  I can list time after time throughout my life where God has rescued me, healed me, when He has shown up by giving us a simple pizza, or opened up the clouds to give me light to walk with my toddlers down a dirt road because it was so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, but we had to get to the neighbors house a half mile down the road, how He has sustained me through dark seasons and the list goes on….  We need to remember, we need to share to encourage others and we need to use those victories to keep us pressing forward!  David’s focus was on God and His faithfulness, not on his own abilities or the circumstances he was about to face.  His goal was for everyone to recognize that there was a God in Israel and apparently even Israel’s army needed that reminder!

Do you need to remind yourself, or is there someone you know that could use some encouragement by remembering all God has done?  We have the ability to be overcomers, by the grace and power of God!  If we cower like the army of Israel did, we are not trusting God or living by faith.  We are called to live by faith so the world will know that there is a God and He loves them.  More than ever satan wants to throw everything possible at you to wear you down so you will give up, you don’t have to bow to that!  You are a child of God and His Spirit lives within you so there’s no excuse ~ He created you to be an overcomer.  If you have felt defeated I would encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and turn on some praise and worship music and remind yourself of all He has done!  He didn’t bring you this far to only bring you this far!  There’s more to do so pray for His strength, confidence and guidance and watch the enemy fall.  The battle is the Lord’s and nothing can stand against Him!
