Romans 4:20
No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
How are you doing today on the scales of Faith? Are you wavering a bit or are you trusting and fully believing that God will come through?
I remember when I was little hearing the verse: Matthew 17:20 that says, So Jesus said to them, “….. for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain,, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Well, that sounded simple enough so I headed out to the back yard and was determined to see that hill out back moved! I wasn’t sure what we were going to do if it was gone, but I wanted to see it happen! If it had moved, I may have been a bit disappointed in the winter because that was my favorite place to go sledding, but hey….. I would have found a way to get over it I guess! Who didn’t think that as a kid? I think it may have done something to my faith basket though, somehow I took that lack of ‘movement’ as acknowledgement that I just didn’t have enough faith, or maybe I just wasn’t important enough to God, maybe getting prayers answered was just for other ‘more important’ people!
I have really been praying that God would teach me more about faith and what I needed to do in order to develop my faith. There are are so many verses in the Bible on Faith we could just sit and read them for hours. I have been praying like the man in Mark 9:24, Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” As I have been praying that over the last several months I have been amazed at the simple things He has shown me!
We all know that Abraham was a man of faith, but where did that faith come from: Romans 4:20- 21 tells us about Abraham and his faith, it says, “No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
Our faith is directly connected to our praise! The more we remind ourselves of who God is and how He sees us, the more we believe! The more our faith grows!
I have been reading a lot about David including Psalms; I have always been impressed with how he was considered a ‘man after god’s own heart’ and I wondered why. What made God consider Him a man after his own heart, it isn’t like David was perfect by any means so what was it? David was constantly consumed with Who God Is! He would pour his heart out to God in prayer begging God to slay his enemies and then in the middle of it all he would pour his heart out in praise of who God is and all that God had done already for him and for Israel.
We need to spend more time praising God and recognizing who He is! We need to spend time just thanking Him and praising Him for all He has done! The more we focus on Him, the more faith we have because we realize more and more that that Huge Mountain of a problem is just a little thing to Him!
Without Faith it is impossible to please God, Hebrews 11:6, that could very well be because it means we are not recognizing Him for all that He is! God is a great God and there’s just nothing that He can’t do! He loves us and the more faith we have in Who He is the more we will trust Him and love Him! That’s the best place to be!
I would like to encourage you today to start praising Him and thanking Him for all He is, all He has done and all He is going to do in your life! Spend some serious time dwelling on Him and your faith will grow!
