1 John 3:18 Dear Children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
Here’s the challenge: What if each of us did just one thing every day for someone else to brighten their day? You can start with simple things like complimenting someone that seems down or go sit and have coffee with them and let them get what is on their heart off their chest. Maybe you can afford to give that single Mom some money or a gift card for her and her children to be able to go out for lunch on Sunday or to a local store for clothes or food. How about getting a few ladies together and helping an elderly person or someone who has been ill in your church or community clean their house or do some lawn work? Get creative and take the time to reach out and make a difference by showing His love.
The reason most of us don’t reach out is because there is a price to be paid to invest in others but when we become so busy that we are too busy to show the love of Christ we are missing out on God’s greatest blessings. The happiest people around are those who invest their time and money into helping others and blessing others. We are naturally self-centered and putting others before ourselves is a habit most people have to perform on purpose until it becomes more natural. If you are bored in your walk with Christ it could be because you aren’t helping enough other people.
When we are consumed with ourselves instead of others it leaves a wide open door for Satan to attack us. One of the key ways he likes to attack us is our thoughts all of a sudden everything is about us and what we want, what will make us comfortable, what can someone do for us, I’m not doing anything for him if he isn’t going to do something for me or maybe she or he hurt my feelings so I’m not going to talk to them. When we are focused on others we don’t have time to worry about nonsense garbage like that and we quickly brush those thoughts off.
Let’s try it this week. Reach out to someone on purpose and ask God to show you opportunities to serve others and set yourself aside in order to show the love of Jesus to others. See how much more blessed you feel by the end of the week after you have spent the time blessing others!

So true.
