John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
I just saw a post by a gentleman on a Neighborhood app I have and he was asking for anyone who might find his Bible to contact him. He had set it on top of his tool box that was in the back of his truck and forgot to grab it before he took off. While that may seem trivial to some, it is a devastating thought when your life is wrapped up in His Word on a daily basis. I even struggle when it comes time to buy a new one because of all of the notes and dates from times when a verse really spoke to my heart whether bringing conviction or comfort, or verses that I highlighted as prayers for family, friends, ministry or personal things, all scattered throughout the chapters. Every time I read back over those verses they are reminders or memories of what was going on back then and it serves as a reminder of God’s faithfulness and how He is continuously working in us to become more like Him. Those memories written in there whether a note, a date, or maybe something I highlighted are precious moments of encountering Him they warm my heart when I see them again.
How precious is His Word to you? There are far too many Christians who rarely, if ever read their Bibles. Ohhhhhh how much they miss!!! I cannot even imagine. If you want to know Him, if you want His guidance, blessings and peace, His Word is where you need to start. Ask Him to give you a hunger for Him and His Word, He will be happy to! Start with something simple like Psalms, or the Gospel of John. Maybe you need to begin with just reading a few verses and build on that. Just don’t miss out by not opening it at all! It is His love letter to us, to tell us how much He loves us, and to guide us in all we do! It is a must have treasure map for your life!
Jeremiah 19:11-13 tells us exactly that! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” A lot of people stop after verse 11, but in order to have the benefits of His plan you must follow His plan. You must seek Him in order to know Him and the more you get to know Him the more your desire to know more grows! So, if you would love to have more peace and answers to all you face in life, you will find it in Him and His Word if you will just seek Him with all your heart!
