Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Why is trust so difficult to do? When you just cannot see what is going on, or why it is going on, and you don’t really see that God is moving on any level, how much do you trust Him? One of the toughest lessons we must all learn at some point in our lives is to trust God no matter what. We all must learn that we don’t have a clue what is really best in the long run and we don’t see the whole picture so when we can’t see Him working we must trust His heart. He loves you and no, it’s not easy to trust what you can’t see or understand most of the time, believe me, I get it, but it’s necessary and always best!
Why is following God so difficult at times? Part of the reason is because we don’t think like He thinks. He is God and obviously, we are not. We all hear about the “will of God” for our lives pretty much from the time you accept Him as your Savior, but how can you figure out what that mysterious “will of God” is for you? Understand this; His will is not just one big task in life, it is following what He asks you to do every single day. Since we know that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways then just exactly which direction should we be headed in and how do we learn what His thoughts and ways are? It takes spending time with Him, reading His Word, and spending time in prayer. Ask Him! There are times when maybe you are going through a horrible season of life when the will of God for you is just to do the task at hand. Maybe today tackling the laundry is all you can bring yourself to do ~ do that and make sure you spend some quality time alone with Him. Maybe you are on bedrest ~ the will of God would be to not miss out on reading His Word or an inspirational book about Him and pour your heart out to Him in prayer, not just for yourself, but for everyone around you. Maybe today you are on a mountaintop and God’s will for you is to give it all you’ve got! Take pride in the job or ministry He has given you to do and do it with all your heart. My Dad always used to tell me that no matter what I did to do it with such care and pride that I would be happy to put my name on it! Are you in between jobs? Seek God with your whole heart and ask Him to guide you into what He has next for you. Don’t get depressed about it because God is always moving you forward if you are following Him, so get excited and seek Him. Don’t miss out on God’s best for you today, no matter where you are in life. If you seek His face, every day and you allow Him to guide you in all that you do then you can know that truly His best for you is yet to come!
You don’t know His thoughts so you may not always understand what He is doing so you have to choose to trust Him. Seek Him and ask Him to show you all that He has planned. Ask Him what His dreams for your life are and what is on His heart today. Give Him your agenda remembering Jeremiah 29:11-13 which says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” He loves you and He has a plan so you can know that truly His best is yet to come if you are following Him.
