Let Him Be The One To Affirm You

Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.

Let’s take some personal inventory here for a minute:  Where is your self-esteem?  Is it under the rug somewhere or maybe on a shelf for a while because you don’t have time for yourself? While some people appear to be full of themselves, they are most likely lacking any confidence and they are overcompensating.  When someone is pushy with their confidence it usually stems from a wounded heart. We need to always remember when we are challenged by another person’s behavior that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Where do you look to build your self-esteem?  Are you counting on someone else to affirm you? I have been there and tried that idea expecting friends, family, or the man in my life to affirm that I was “ok” and that doesn’t work!  On good days that can be great, but then along comes a day when they say or do something that hurts your feelings and all of a sudden everything they have ever said that was positive went straight out the window and you don’t believe anything positive that was said anymore and there goes your self-esteem. Your self-worth can only come from God!  He created you and sees you as beautiful and worthy of His time!  Seriously have you ever thought about just that thought alone?  The Almighty God who created the Universe by just speaking it into existence sees you for who He created you to be and He says you are worthy of His time!  As the Bible says in Romans 8:31 “If God be for us, then who can be against us?” You cannot worry about what other people think or say about you, you must focus on God and your walk with Him. Take a look around, satan is trying everything he can to DIVIDE and conquer. We must hold each other up in prayer and fight his attacks together.

This is important, in order for you to fully realize your full potential you must have healthy self-esteem!  You are worth it, God says you are!  We all have our days where we feel like we must be at the bottom of the barrel but I have found that you can’t lay there and wallow in it, you have to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and wait silently for God alone to meet your expectations. Pray for those around you who are boisterous and obnoxious, they are obviously hurting deeply and they need Jesus to heal their wounded hearts. Instead of lashing out, we need to spend more time praying for others. We cannot do anything about what other people say or think but we can control our response. Most often we are best off not responding with anything other than prayer. God is still on His throne, He sees everything and He knows what is best for you and that situation so leave it with Him.
