1 John 4:4, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
It doesn’t matter who you are, if you live in this world and especially if you are pursuing your relationship with God, satan is going to attack. Now, I have heard several sides to this so let’s clear a few things up. Some people want to ignore demonic activity by never really acknowledging it and others want to say that you can never be touched because the Holy Spirit lives within you. I would not recommend ignoring it the Bible is clear in Ephesians 6 that we need to be armed and ready because there is a spiritual battle going on. We are to be aware of that and we are to put on the armor of God so we can stand. I believe that one of the biggest issues we face is the lack of time Christians spend in their Bibles because then their armor is weak. Look at what is going on in the United States and all that satan is coming against the children with, in the public schools. Christians need to rise up and fight that!
Saying that you can never be touched by demonic attacks isn’t true either. In 1 Peter 5:8 we are told, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Does that mean we should be quaking in our boots? Absolutely not! But does that mean you can be under attack? Absolutely, yes you can, but the great news is that as it says in 1 John 4:4, Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” The Holy Spirit can help you overcome the attacks you face! Jesus is the creator, satan is the created ~ no competition there. Jesus defeated all of that on the cross! Does that mean satan can never come against you? Have you read the book of Job? There are times when he may be allowed for a season to come against you in order to help you grow or for God to show Himself mighty in your life. Here’s the thing, if satan thinks you are worth going after then clearly he is concerned about what you may do for God. If you never get attacked then it’s probably time to see if you are just not recognizing the attacks on your mind or if you aren’t walking as closely as you should with God so you aren’t a threat. Ugh. Attacks will come, but God is your vindicator as it says in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. He sees, He knows and He cares, and in His time He will vindicate. He has your back! Nothing can come against you without His knowing. Nothing takes God by surprise. He may allow some things in order for Him to bring about His vindication against those who are attacking you.
As a Christian, you are not to walk in fear, you are to walk in the confidence that you have the Holy Spirit living within you. Pursue your walk with God so you can know that He is walking with you and regardless of what comes against you, you are on the right path and He will protect you. The battle is real so don’t ignore it, but don’t live in fear of it either ~ walk closely with God and allow Him to guide you and give you strength. He has overcome satan and those demons and they will not win, but you must stand strong on His Word because the battle is the Lord’s. You don’t have to fight, you just have to put that armor on and stand strong in Him.
I know this was an unusual study, but there’s an enemy out there trying to destroy you and those you love. We need to be mindful of that, not fearful, and we need to do everything within our abilities to draw close to God and shed His light in this dark world. The last thing satan wants is for Christians to start standing and drawing other people to Jesus. God has your back, no matter what you are facing today there is hope and the assurance that it is His battle and He is giving you everything you need to stand. Victory is already yours, you just need to wait on Him and trust Him that truly in Him, His best is yet to come!
