John 8:31-32 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
When you spend time in God’s word and you begin to fully realize who you are in Christ it is then that you will feel truly free. First and foremost we can be free from sin because of Jesus’ blood that He shed on the cross! That is what must happen first and that is the most important, but you can be free from all of the lies you have believed all your life about yourself as well.
What lies have you told yourself about yourself over the years, or what have other people said that has made an impact on your life that isn’t even true? It is absolutely amazing what impact words have on our minds! I remember when I was 13 years old, I had always been a little, skinny, mini growing up and woohoo I weighed all of 109 pounds at 13 and I was 5’3” so I was still quite thin when one of my uncles looked at me and said, “hey Janet, you are putting on some weight there and getting a little pudgy don’t you think?” I thought I was fat! I started gaining weight and even though I was overwhelmingly active I put on almost 20 pounds by the time I was 17 and 40 pounds by the time I was 19 and it was out of control. I ran 2 miles every night at college and I was taking an advanced swimming class and Judo and Self Defense, I carried 17 hours of classes and worked a job and all I was eating was about 1200 calories a day and I couldn’t lose weight if my life had depended on it! How crazy is that? Then one day I changed my self-talk and my outlook on myself and it all changed! I started losing weight, it didn’t just fall off, but it changed when I changed my self-talk.
Ladies, when you look at other women, you have to stop seeing them as a threat to who you are! They don’t threaten you! They have enough insecurities themselves to probably fill your basket and theirs! Stop it! Spend more time in God’s word and remember who you are and remember that He created you with a purpose suited for you! You don’t have to be that other woman in order to be great ~ you just have to be you! God loves you and He created you! He doesn’t want you to be her! Don’t allow lies to shape who you are in your mind; not your lies or anyone else’s lies! God created you with all of the talents and abilities to be all He created you to be! Exercise those abilities and talents and become all He created you to be and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. Stop telling yourself that you can’t do it! Choose to believe! Forget about that other lady and let her be all God created her to be, just because she is doing something different that doesn’t make her better or worse than you! Let it go and focus on who you are in Him and know that He created you to do great things through Him! There are no menial tasks! As it says in 1 Corinthians 12:14-20:
“For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.”
We all have a purpose and we are all different for a reason! You need to just be the best, you, that you can be for Him and don’t worry about anyone else! We need to empower each other to be all we can be for Him instead of being insecure about who we are because of who someone else is! God is for you! He loves you! Don’t settle for the lies that have been holding you back! Start speaking the truth to yourself about who you are and who God is creating you to be!
