Joshua 24:15, “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Every day you have a choice to make: who will rule and reign in your home? Will you choose the God of heaven or is there someone or something else? If you choose anything other than God, it is satan that you have given the open door to, so choose carefully each day.
How much of God do you want in your home? What areas do you allow Him to guide you in? May sound funny and yet, if Jesus were actually sitting with you would you watch that movie or tv show? Would you be reading that book? Would you be having that conversation? Would you justify cheating on your spouse? Would you use the language you are using? What decisions do you make on a daily basis that would tell Him that He is not number one in your life?
Sometimes I think we make choices out of habit rather than truly being a thought process, or we make them because we don’t want to appear to be a “stick in the mud” and we need to learn to be more intentional in our choices! Maybe you have had a little twinge in the past about allowing your kids to watch that show, play that game, or read that book but someone else has convinced you that their kids do it so maybe it isn’t really all that bad. Unfortunately one of the most popular set of books and movies out there for kids is all about witchcraft and yet many Christians have embraced it and allowed it in their homes. Witchcraft is not make-believe, while the story in the book may be, witchcraft is very real and running rampant. We know we are fighting a spiritual battle that is why we are told to put on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6 so it seems that allowing witchcraft stories as entertainment is counterproductive in that war. Don’t ignore the soft prompting of the Holy Spirit in order to lower your standard for your home in order to “fit” someone else’s standards. Hold on to your God-given standards! Teach your children that it is better to stay as far away from something questionable as possible rather than see how close they can get to the edge of wrong! Teach them to set their standards high, especially when it comes to right and wrong, godly and ungodly! Don’t open the door for satan to influence your children in your home. He is fighting on every side to get to your kids, we need to use our armor to protect them. Just pray for God’s direction in all you do and He will be happy to guide you!
We are called to be set apart and to set the example for the world. Let’s strive for peace, love, and God’s grace in our homes. Let’s put God first place in all that we do so people who don’t know Him will be drawn to Him. Make the Word of God a priority
Philippians 4:8, “Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Hold your standards high! Choose wisely and be intentional every single day about who will rule and reign in your home! Remember, He is right there, by your side so let Him have His way in your home! The best is yet to come!
