Ephesians 6:12. Render service with enthusiasm, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good we do, we will receive the same again from the Lord.
Who are you serving? What are your motives? We are all, at times, self-centered but we are called to be God-centered. We need to do an inward check at times to see what our motives really are in all that we do. Are we doing it to gain someone else’s attention or favor? You don’t need other people’s approval, God created you and He is the only one who can truly define you! Keep your eyes fixed on Him and what He has created you t be and do! He has a plan and He has put within you all you need to fulfill that. You will feel more fulfilled doing what you were created to do than you will anything else you could possibly do! So with that in mind do your best to keep your motives fixed on what will bring glory to God by your being all He created you to be!
Pastor Bob Barnes in 15 Minutes Alone with God for Men shared the following prayer that is applicable to men and women: “Father God, search me and show me my motivation for what I do. Forgive my selfishness. Give me a pure heart that joyfully and energetically serves You, the Author and Giver of life. Help me serve with my eyes on You and not on other people, hoping they’ll notice what I do. And thank You for the gracious and generous rewards You promise even when our motives aren’t pure and our service is imperfect. Amen”
I would encourage each of us today to take a look inside ourselves and ask the question; “what is my deepest motivation in all that I do?” Am I living for God, myself, or others? Ask God today to give you the insight and the strength to change any motivation and attitudes that don’t line up with His and to pursue His plans. The most satisfying life we can have is one that is focused on God in all that we do, to bring honor and glory to His name, not our own. Keep your eyes fixed on Him!
Quote: “It’s not the things you get but the hearts you touch that will determine your success in life.”
