Matthew 4:4, Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
So how important is it to spend time alone in God’s Word? Clearly it was important to Jesus, so it should be that important to us. We need to be digging in and getting to know the Word of God better than we know anything else. Times are changing quickly and our faith and hope will only grow as we spend more time with Him.
What are you struggling with today? You can find your answers and peace for your situation as you get to know Him more and trust Him to guide you. Are you looking around and questioning what is right anymore? You will find your answers in the Word of God. I love reading the Old Testament and seeing God’s faithfulness over and over in the lives of His people. It is encouraging to be reminded of how much He cares about the “details”. You matter to Him and He wants a closer relationship with you! He wants to lead and guide you into all that He created you to be, but you won’t find that if you never dig in and get to know Him. The world is going to Hell in a handbasket and they need hope so let’s commit to spending more time in God’s Word so we can live out that hope and be a warrior for God to use to draw others to Him. When you do watch tv, be very selective in what you watch.
If you struggle to understand the Bible or you find it difficult to just sit down and read it, start with a verse maybe in Psalms or Proverbs and work your way up. Find some Godly books to read, I love the book “The Rock, The Road, and The Rabbi” by Kathie Lee Gifford and Rabbi Jason Sobel. That is a great book to start with because it is an easy read and he does such a great job of explaining scripture with the Jewish history and explanation. The key is to start somewhere being intentional in your growth in your walk with God.
Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable ~ if anything is excellent or praiseworthy ~ think about such things.” Choose your thoughts and time wisely and choose to honor God in all that you say and do. Ask Him to show you what may need to change so you can grow into all that He created you to be. We are all on this journey, no one has “arrived” so we can all benefit from spending more time in His Word. Remember this: Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” God loves you ~ choose to spend more time with Him starting today knowing that truly His best is yet to come!
