Psalm 41:1a. Blessed is the one who considers the poor!
Oh, how I love this time of year!! The season of “Giving” is so exciting! I love to give and it is truly a passion! My children love to give to others as well, sometimes other people think maybe we give to a fault, but, well, I say if you have it to give then by all means give! I’ve rubbed off on Bill and he found himself giving to a homeless man just the other day ( we know all of the arguments about giving to someone who is homeless, but you have to do what you have to do at the time God puts it on your heart! There are times to give money and there are times to give sleeping bags, food, supplies, etc.) Giving to others out of a heart filled with God’s love to me is one of the best opportunities life gives us!
Anyhow, today I would like to encourage you to look for ways to bless others and show the love of Christ to someone else! Try paying it forward in the Starbucks line or pick a card of the Christmas tree to help a family in need, fill that shoebox at church, get a gift card for that single parent in your church – you know single Mom’s and Dad’s rarely get gifts for Christmas unless they are in a new relationship. If you ask God, He will show you what you can do to show His love to someone! This is really the way we should think all year round, not just in December!
Take the time today to just set your heart free to give! Don’t hold back, wondering if they really need or deserve it! That is up to God, you are not the judge and jury! Give with an open hand and heart to serve God! Allow God’s joy to fill your heart in your giving by doing it without reservation! Ask yourself this…… “Do you ‘deserve’ all that God has given and done for you?” No, ya don’t! If you have worked hard for your money then aren’t you just so happy then, that God gave you that ability and that job to go with it because there are a lot of capable people out there who could have your job! God is so good and He loves you so much, but He loves those people in need as well and if He has blessed you, it is right to give out of the goodness of His heart!
There is no greater joy than the joy that comes with giving, so give it a try today! Bless yourself and others with a heart of giving this year! The best is yet to come!
Quote: “Each of us will one day be judged by our standard of life, not by our standard of living; by our measure of giving, not by our measure of wealth; by our simple goodness, not by our seeming greatness.” William Arthur Ward
