A Little Organization Could Go A Long Way

Genesis 1: 5, God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”  And there was evening, and there was morning ~ the first day.

Do you ever feel as though time just seems to get away from you?  Have you ever gotten to the end of the day and you were frustrated because you didn’t get nearly what you wanted to accomplish done?  Or how about the year?  Have you ever just stopped and thought, “How is it December already?”  Where did the time go?

Unfortunately, that happens to all of us at times (no pun intended).  I have learned that I have to write down what I need to get done and prioritize that list so I can accomplish what needs to be accomplished.  I try to do it the night before so I know if maybe I should get up earlier, but when that doesn’t happen I try to get it done as soon as I am finished with my devotions and writing.  I like to keep my list close so I can adjust it when I remember something important.  As strange as it may seem; if I don’t organize my time I end up disorganized in everything.  Organization is not something that I was born with, unfortunately.  I had to learn to be organized.  I wish I had been born with that skill, but, no, that was not in my genes.  I know a lady here in Spring Hill that is amazing at organizing, in fact, she has helped other people get organized ~ it is her passion and I wish I had just a smidgen of that passion and talent.  Some of us have to work harder at it, but it is necessary.  Time is important to God so we need to spend it wisely.

Once you organize your time you may find you seem to have a bit more of it than you thought.  I would encourage you to ask God to show you any other areas you may need to organize.  I know this seems like a strange topic so close to Christmas, but there’s that week in between Christmas and the New Year that may have some space in it to organize before that New Year.  The Money Couple has some great books on organizing your finances, including a book to help you teach your children about money.  There’s also a great book for organizing your home, “Messy No More” by Sandra Felton.  Here’s Emily’s info as well ~ there’s no better organizer. https://www.facebook.com/organizingwithemily  One more thing I have found is necessary in order to get organized is “Boundaries”  and if you are lacking in setting boundaries you can find that book by Henry Cloud and John Townsend on Amazon as well.  Sometimes you just have to say “no”.  Whatever it may be that you need to get started organizing in your life today, make sure that you make God and time alone with Him a priority.

I know this seems like a strange Bible study this morning, but I do believe that in order to be all we have been created to be it takes some organization.  When we are organized we can be intentional about our time with Him so we can grow in our walk with God.  When we get organized we are much more likely to accomplish what we are called to accomplish.  Believe me, this is not by any means meant to condemn, just encourage.   Today is a new day and you don’t want to overwhelm yourself by trying to get it all done.  Take one thing at a time and set some reasonable goals to achieve it.  Pray for God’s direction and don’t allow this holiday season to slip by you without your having time to enjoy your friends and family.  Make the time to relax, don’t over-schedule yourself.  Make the time to spend time with other people.  Spend time alone with God celebrating His wonderful gift to us!
