Psalm 100:3-5
Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with Thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

My prayer today is that you have multitudes of things to be thankful to God for. I know that the holidays can be tough due to losses that seem to stand out with empty seats at tables and changes in locations, changes in jobs, etc. Please let me encourage you today to stop for a moment and take a look around and see what God has blessed you with and where you have loss allow Him to hold you and love on you.

When we grieve we need to remember that we all handle grief differently and you need to feel free to grieve in your own way, but do your best to allow those who love you in to your grief.  Don’t try to go it alone! My prayer is that this will be a time of healing as well as a time for thanking God for His goodness.   I have loved ones that will be missed greatly through the holidays ~ everything I bake brings back memories of my precious Mom and every thing I have repaired or remodeled in our house lately reminds me of my Dad and all he taught me. I am grateful today though for the wonderful things I learned from them and the godly heritage I have. There is a lot of pain out there this week and my heart breaks thinking about what losses you may be facing today, more importantly God’s heart is broken over your broken heart as well. He loves you and wants to wrap His arms around you today.

God deserves our praise every day! We need to take the time this week, as the Pilgrims did years ago and remind ourselves of all we have to be grateful for. They had suffered major loss before that first Thanksgiving day and that is what brought them to the place they where they wanted to take the time to Thank God for carrying them through all of the tragedies they faced! So let me encourage you today to do your best to bless your family and those around you that you come in contact with through this holiday season with your gratitude for all God is and all He has done! If you know someone who is hurting because of the loss of a loved one, reach out and show the love of God to them.  Allow them to grieve in their own way through this time as well!    If you are the one struggling know that God loves you so much and His best for you is still on it’s way, He has a wonderful plan for you and He will bring it all to pass. Take today and honor Him by entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with your praise!

I pray you have an incredibly blessed Thanksgiving Week with all of God’s grace for your sorrows and losses, amazing memories of those you love who are not able to be with you and for all of His strength for tomorrow!

Yes, the losses are so pronounced at this time of year. I’m thinking of my mother and how much joy she brought to our home during the holidays…makes me smile! And I find myself making her recipes. Thank you Lord for the ability to taste and smell them… bringing back to me, memories and great feelings of comfort and my mom…
