A Word Of Encouragement

Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety weighs down the heart but a kind word cheers it up.

Let me ask you ladies a silly question: have you ever known anyone that was a bit down?

So often when we have a friend that is down and out we think the best thing to do is take her side on whatever it is she is down about. We just want to make our friends feel better so sometimes we mistakenly think that if we just say the things we think she wants to hear then it will make her feel better. That is not always the case, for example; sometimes when I am frustrated and down it is because I have a misconception of the situation and the last thing I really need is for a friend to come along side me and get on the band wagon and encourage me on in my wrong thinking.

The best thing we can do for each other when we are true friends is to speak the truth in kindness and encourage in that truth. If she is right then encourage her in that but if you know that she is frustrated and down pray for the right encouraging words. It does no good to encourage someone down the wrong path they just end up more frustrated and down hearted.

On the other side of things; do you or someone you know constantly need someone to build their confidence or constantly need to be encouraged? I am talking in excess where in order to make it through the day certain people have to continuously reassure you or complement you in order for you to function or you get irritable and depressed? Don’t rely on other people to hold you up. Your self esteem and your confidence for your day needs to come from God and then everything that anyone else has to say will be icing on the cake. No one will ever be able to fulfill your needs emotionally, that void is there for God to fill, not your spouse or your friends and or children! There aren’t too many things that can suck the life out of our relationships with others more than someone expecting someone else to constantly fulfill their every need. Look to God and He will fill any void you may have in your life!

Take the time today to encourage those around you and lift them up with encouraging and affirming words, you will be amazed at how much it will bless you and if you are struggling needing to fill a void in your life, start asking God today to meet that need in your life ~ He is waiting to do it!
