Allow His Word To Soak In ~ It Can Change Your Life

Isaiah 40:8,  “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

God has preserved His words for you!  God never intended for us to guess how we are to live and above all else He took the guesswork out of who He is!  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  I know I keep saying that, but it is so important for us to get ahold of that fact.  He wants you to know as you read His Word that He hasn’t changed since He parted the Red Sea, or raised people from the dead or healed them of blindness or disease and He is the same God who judges sin and disciplines accordingly.  He has laid everything out in His Word so you can know Him and He can guide you into all He created you to be.

He gave you His word so He can encourage you when you are down, to give you hope, when there seems to be no hope, to give you answers when you just don’t know what to do, to grow your faith as you get to know Him more.  Stop for a moment and think about all the reasons that come to mind for why He felt it was so important to preserve His Word.  In light of that, how important has His word been to you?  Do you cherish it?  I hope you do because He loves you so much and He wants you to see that through His Word.

Are there decisions you need to make?  Ask God to give you a verse as you read.  Now, I can tell you from experience that you may not get that verse the day you ask for it, but keep seeking Him.  Listen and look for His answers, is that sermon for you?  Sometimes people miss out on something God has for them in a message because they are too busy looking for something that someone else needs to get from it.  Ask God to help you seek what He is saying to you, not someone else.  Leave them to Him.  I don’t really recommend Bible Bingo either although there was a time when it did work in my favor with my daughter.  She wanted another dog and we already had a dog or two at the time and I said “no” but she was pleading the case for this dog so I told her to ask God.  I meant pray about it but she grabbed my Bible that was sitting there and opened it up and pointed to a verse.  I don’t know what verse it was in the Old Testament but it said something about “your house will be a house of dung”.  Well, there you have it.  I said, “that answer seems fitting” so she said, “let’s try that again!” So, she opened and pointed to another verse and it said, “I, the Lord your God, have spoken!”  We laughed and she didn’t get the dog!  As funny as that was to us that day, I think it may be a rare thing for God to expect you to use His Word that way.  She was being goofy, but she also knew that God’s Word is life and breath to us.  It is something to study and absorb because it is God’s Word that He preserved for each of us to find Him and His guide for our lives.  It is so amazing because the same verses can speak to each of us and move us along the paths that He guides us on in different ways.

I would encourage you to soak in every opportunity that you hear or read God’s Words.  Allow Him to speak to you so you can know Him more.  As scary as life can be it’s not nearly as scary if you recognize Who He is and how much He loves you and His plan for your life.  Trust Him and take Him at His Word.  The more you know His Word the more confident you will become in His plans for your life and your faith in Him.
