Are You “Locked In”

Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Don’t get so locked into the way you have always done things or the way you have always seen God do things that you can’t see when He is calling you to something new!  It may be time to stir up those old dreams God put in your heart years ago that you figured you must have heard wrong or somehow you missed it.

Every day is a new day, fresh with no mistakes and fresh with new opportunities to serve God on a new level if you are open to it.  What have you given up on or what have you been so locked into that you haven’t even opened your heart up to something new?  I love the story about the new bride who, as the tradition in her family would have it, made a roast every Sunday for lunch.  One day her husband asked her what the purpose was in always cutting one end off of the roast.  She said, “well, that is the way my Mom always did it so I will ask her when they come over for lunch.”  That afternoon when they were all relaxing after lunch she asked and her Mom said, “well, that’s how My Mom always did it, so I have always done it that way too.”  At that moment the Grandmother piped up and said, “I cut the end off the roast because I didn’t have a roasting pan big enough for them to fit in!”

Are you cutting off the end of the roast?  Are you just moving along in life never expecting God to do something fresh and new in your life?  Are you stuck in tradition?  Are you open to something new?  One of the things I have realized over the last year is how much we are missing because we have westernized the Bible and somehow have picked and chosen our traditions and beliefs so I am digging in to study more of what is meant in the true context of His Word.  I want us to be able to go deeper into understanding Jewish History and the meaning of how it was written.  You probably won’t find that my writing will change a whole lot but I am praying that God will give me more insights to share that will help us to grow and understand what His Word is telling us!  Are you open to going deeper and allowing God to teach you new things ~ not strange, crazy things, but things like the simple fact that the entire Word of God is about His Son Jesus, even to the point that the first letter and last letters of the Bible spell the word Ben, which in Hebrew means “Son”.  So simple and yet so meaningful.  We have given up traditions like blessing people and so many other things that were and still are important to God.  Let’s allow God to teach us and do something new in our lives so we don’t miss out on anything He has for us!

God is always moving forward.  His desire is to walk closer and closer with you each day!  He has a plan for your life.  Don’t settle into where you are or where you have always been ask Him to show you that “new thing” He wants to do in and through you to bring Him glory and to draw others to Him!  Trust Him!  His best is truly yet to come!
