Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In repentance and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
If you want to know where your strength will come from it is in being still and trusting in God. If you want to find peace in life and fulfillment then you must repent and rest in God’s grace. So often we find ourselves wanting to run or hide either from a situation or our own sin and the answer is in resting in God, repenting and trusting in His love and grace to get us through whatever we may face.
I can remember growing up my parents telling me that if I would go to them with the problem even if I had done something wrong that brought on the situation, and I told them the truth, they would “have my back”. But if they found out another way and I didn’t “fess up” I was in a heap of trouble. Their grace was found in repenting and allowing them to handle things but their discipline came with hiding it and their finding out on their own. Hmmmm…… what a godly idea.
If you haven’t anything to repent of you still need to rest in Him and be still and trust Him. Don’t run off looking for someone else to rescue you or give you strength. The answer is not in running from God but in running to Him. So often those people who seem to have to go, go, go are the ones who are running from something in their lives and they feel if they stop for a moment it will all catch up to them, I hate to break the news to them but you can’t run fast enough for it to not “catch up with you”.
God wants to extend His grace and strength to us. All He is asking is for us to look to Him for both! He loves us and wants to have our backs. I can remember my Dad standing up for me with adults before saying, “I believe Janet, I know she has told me the truth.” Wow, do you know how much strength even those words filled me with? I knew all I had to do was tell him the truth, no matter how ugly it was and even if it broke his heart, my Dad would stand with me as I faced whatever I had to face. That’s what God wants to do for us! He wants to stand with us whether we have messed up and we need His forgiveness or we are in the right and someone else has done us wrong and we need His strength.
Ladies, God loves us more than we can comprehend and He wants to be everything to us! He wants to be our refuge and strength no matter what. He is not a God who holds a grudge, He is a God who wants to hold us! He welcomes us with open arms when we repent or just need to rest in Him, He wants us to trust Him with everything in our lives that would include the good, the bad and the ugly stuff.
Whatever you are going through today I would encourage you to give it all to Him. If there are things you need to face that you have done wrong, know that Jesus has your back – He already paid for it. If you are worn out from life and all that has been going on know that you can find rest and strength in just resting in Him and trusting that what He has planned for you is going to be amazing. The best is yet to come!
