Jonah 1:6
So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.”
Are you sleeping when it comes to what is going on around you just like Jonah? We can get so caught up in ourselves and what we want or what is going on in our own lives that we lose our passion for the things of God. Jonah became so caught up in himself that he felt he was more important than the people of Nineveh. They didn’t deserve the things of God because in his eyes they were wicked.
How much do you care about the lost world around you? It horrifies me that there are teenagers and young adults here in the U.S. that know nothing about God. Anything they may have dropped in their direction gets swept away often by teachers in school or friends. How much do you know about “partial birth abortion”? I knew nothing really until I heard Janet Parshall speak about it the other day and I almost vomited. I apparently have slept right through it thinking that it was just a baby being delivered early and left to die (as if that shouldn’t be enough to get one riled!) that’s not it! There are so many things going on around us and we are either oblivious to them or let’s face it we just don’t care!
I believe ladies, it is time to ask our God about what needs to be done? He may have a thought for us! What do we need to get passionate about? What do we need to take a stand for that we are ignoring? I am not saying you necessarily have to get out in public and start fighting for something, you need to do what God calls you to do. I am just trying to encourage you to get passionate about something. We have a lost and dying world around us and any more the United States of America seems to be the most lost country on many levels! There are people who need to see the love of God, children that need to be brought to church and taught, there are ladies out there that are hurting and unsure of where to turn. Ask God to show you today who you can reach out to or what you may be able to do to make a difference in your community. God wants to use you to accomplish great things where you are – don’t sleep through it!

Amen and Amen..Open our eyes and ears Lord–that we may be a seeing and hearing people..Open the eyes of and strengthen our hearts to be a responsive people..we need to be more than just a people feeling compassion..we need to be responders with compassion..People need to have a living experience with Jesus Christ and we are the living vessel through which He can reach others..Wake us up Lord out of our slumber because just as in the days of Jonah..the days are certainly evil..may we not take our salvation for granted so much that we forget or neglect to share such a precious gift with others, help us to be more keenly aware of the lost estate of the unsaved and to remember they also- are created by God, made in His image..Please guide and bless our effort- that it will bring glory and honor and praise to Your Great Name..In Jesus Name, Amen..
