Are You Willing To Take A Stand Today?

Luke 6:22-23    Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!  Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.

Do you ever feel as though no matter how much you try to do what is right someone is angry with you?  Do you maybe live in an area where being a Christian makes you an outcast and may even be  dangerous?  What about your family; do they give you a hard time for your beliefs and the things you take a stand for?  As much as those circumstances hurt and are frustrating remember that we are only here on earth for a little while but we will be in Heaven for eternity.

No matter what it is we face today it is but for a moment in comparison to Heaven.  I know that is hard to grasp when you are struggling and in a bad situation, believe me I have been there.  It is hard to focus on anything other than what you are going through today when you feel as though the circumstances you are in and facing will never change.  That can feel like eternity!  When you feel that way ask others to pray for you, turn on some Praise and Worship music that really focusses in on the greatness of God, and spend some quiet time alone with Him asking Him to carry you through to the other side and to give you the strength you need to stand, knowing this too shall pass!

There will always be people who don’t like what you stand for but we have got to start taking stronger stands for what we believe in!  America is falling, this great country that was built on God, our God, the one and only true God and we as Christians often don’t want to rock the boat, we want to be careful we don’t offend anyone with our political beliefs.  Really?  It really doesn’t come down to what you want to choose politically it comes down to what the Word of God has to say about it.  When we vote on an issue or for a person the only criteria should be what the Word of God has to say about it or him or her.  Nothing else matters, how rich they are, what color they are, whether or not they have a nice wife.  We need to start standing up for the Word of God, we need to embed it in our children and we need to start standing for what is right, no matter who it offends.  Jesus offended the Pharisees and Sadducees all the time, was it His goal to offend?  No, He was just taking a stand for what He knew was true and right.

So, whether it is with family, on the job or politically we need to stand for what is right.  That doesn’t mean you have to go out and carry a sign necessarily, ask God how He wants you to take a stand, but then stand!  There’s no reason to get on Facebook and get in arguments with people about issues either, take your stand if you choose and let them wag their tongues if they want but don’t get into silly scraps over it.  There are times it is just best to bite our tongues.

Ask God today if there is something He would like to see you stand more firmly on.  Ask Him to give you the strength to be the shining example in your family and at work.  Stand up for what is right in your church.  But no matter what you are standing for be sure it is what the Word of God says is right.  Do all of your standing, no matter where you are in a way that glorifies God.  Choose to honor Him today in all that you do and say!  Allow Him to guide you!
