Be Careful What Doors You Leave Open

Ephesians 4:27
And do not give the devil a foothold.

I grew up in a small church in Northern MI and I still love that church dearly, but we never talked much about the spiritual world that surrounds us in fact we didn’t even really talk much about the Holy Spirit, we seemed to avoid that topic for the most part. I remember one time when I was about 13 that my parents were very upset when they found out that I had played with a Ouija board over at my aunts house with my cousins but no one really went into details of why that wasn’t a good idea other than ooooo it had something to do with the “devil”. I didn’t understand that to play with it I was opening doors in my life that I didn’t want open. I was opening a door for demonic influence. Now did I see things moving around my house or demons? No, but I was playing with “fire”.

Now, that is an obvious “no,no” but do you have areas you leave the door open to influence other than God? Horoscopes, Ouija boards, Psychics, some rock music and some movies can influence your life in ways you cannot see but they are there. Bill has written a book and it is a very dramatic story and it is all true about a time when he opened the door and his case the attacks were more obvious than anything we will probably ever see or hear, but that is just it, it is the quiet, subtle battle that Satan wages against us that we tend to ignore which makes us more vulnerable to his attacks. It is rare for Satan to be real obvious in most Christians lives he would much rather use the “sneak attack” approach, like convincing you that you need to look “sexy” or, if you want it take it, whether it’s something in a store or another woman’s husband. He wears people down slowly one step at a time because he has time. He is willing to wait as long as need be for you to be at a weak point so he can pounce and destroy.

How can you fight against something you cannot see? Pray and ask God to show you what areas you are lacking in. Do you need to spend more time in your Bible, you can never spend too much time in God’s word. Clothe yourself with the scriptures, put on the full armor of God. Watch how you dress and how you behave. When others look at you do they see God or do they see a woman who is looking for attention. Do EVERYTHING you can to your relationship with God. Make your daily focus when you first wake up in the morning to be a more Godly woman today than you were yesterday. Pray for a hedge of protection around you and your family.

The victory is the Lords and He is our focus and our guide! Don’t spend your time focusing on the evil unseen world spend it focusing on God and the fact that He is an all powerful God who loves you and just wants a deeper relationship with you. He will show you any areas you are giving Satan a foothold if you ask so you can be rid of it and move on. May the Lord bless you and keep you today and may you see Him for how strong and powerful He is in your life!
