Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”
Early this morning, as I was making my coffee. I happened to glance out the kitchen window, and it was still dark outside, but I could see the moon coming out from behind the clouds. The more the clouds cleared around it, the bigger it appeared. It was gorgeous!

Everything God created is mind-blowing and has a purpose, and as a result, satan likes to get in the way, doing whatever he can to twist it into something else. God never intended for the moon to be worshipped or used for a night of satanic rituals and witchcraft; it is there to provide light for us at night as it reflects the sun back to earth. In a sense, as Christians, we have the same purpose. We are here to reflect the Son, God’s Son, so we reflect His light in this dark world. Satan will try to cover that light in your life with storms, heartaches, and any and every struggle he can throw at you. He will try to get other people to lie and twist things, or they may say things to you that hurt or make you feel as though you’re crazy to think God would want to use you to keep you from fulfilling your purpose. Just wait on God, and He will clear those clouds. You don’t have to defend yourself or try to clear the clouds in front of you; just remain faithful, and He will do it for you. Just like the pictures I took this morning, sometimes the light may be bright and then a moment later it may only shine on one, but God is the one who is in control, your job is just to reflect His light!
Satan works overtime on each of us to do the same thing. He wants to twist your thoughts about who God says you are and who He created you to be until you may wonder what your purpose is or if you even have a purpose anymore. There is a purpose for every detail of everything God created, to the degree that even the most intelligent people can’t comprehend it all, and it’s the same for you!
What a beautiful full moon! It was surrounded by the clouds, and it reminded me of the night I had accidentally locked myself out of the house when my three children were from infant to four years old. I know I have told this before, but this is part of what God was speaking to me about this morning! So there I was living in the middle of nowhere in Northern Michigan in a dress and high heels, and the couple who gave us a ride home from church had left. There were no cell phones, no streetlights, and my landlord lived about a quarter of a mile down the dirt, in places sandy, road, and it was pitch black out because of the clouds. Once we came back out of the garage, I could barely see down the driveway, but I had no choice but to try to get to Sommer’s house so he could let me in the house! So, with Candace, my baby in one arm and Danielle holding my other hand and Brian holding her other hand, we set out. As I was stepping onto the road, I prayed, “Lord, please help us make it because I cannot see a thing!” As I took that first step on the road, the clouds cleared just enough for the moon to shine through that hole. As you know, I’m sure, normally that hole in the clouds could have been gone as quickly as it came, but it stayed until I was at the door of their house. As Mr Sommer was driving us back to the house, he asked, “How on earth were you able to see your way to our house?” I told him, and he said, “Ah, yes, that’s God! He is so good!”
I told all of that again because God sees you and He knows exactly when to clear the clouds or move in whatever way He needs to move in your life so you can be all you were created to be. Satan is no match for God, satan is created, and God is God! He will shine light on the path He has for you at the right time, He won’t leave you wandering in the dark, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Sometimes we have to take that first step in order to see. Keep in mind that He shines the light on your path just like the moon lighting the road, that was all I could see. I couldn’t see all the way to their house. I could only see a short distance in front of me. It takes trust.
God has a purpose for everything and everyone He created, so don’t be discouraged if all hell seems to be coming against you. It would be more concerning if satan didn’t try messing with you because then you have to ask, ”Why am I not a threat to satan’s plans?” We need to be men and women who are like Joanne Clancy mentioned that she wanted to be in her book, The Gift: “Be the kind of woman who, when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says, “Oh, no! She’s up.”
The world is full of darkness, so let’s all determine to be the light by reflecting the Son, just like the moon did this morning! It is not always easy; in fact, the darker it gets, the more courage and determination it takes. Don’t focus on what’s going on around you, keep your heart and mind set on Him and eternity, knowing that His best is yet to come for those who love and seek Him!
