Psalm 107:2
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary.”
Where is our faith? This morning in my devotions, the portion I was reading in the New Testament was in Mark and in chapter 6 verses 5 and 6 I once again was amazed at His family and home town people: “And He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief.”
Have you or someone you know ever been in a situation where you needed God to do something miraculous and mighty in your life and yet everyone around you made sure that you would understand that “life, just isn’t that way!” “People don’t just get healed, God doesn’t just deliver you from your “adversaries”, God doesn’t just ‘fix’ things”! Wow! It’s no wonder it doesn’t happen, we are full of unbelief and if we aren’t already full of it, everyone around us will make sure we realize how foolish we are to believe for the miraculous! Oh, how much I think we may be missing out on!
Let me ask this; what is so threatening to believers when someone else has faith? What is so threatening about being positive and believing that God is mighty and wanting to do mighty things in our lives? Why does the miraculous seem so far out of our reach when we serve the God who has created everything, who sees everything, who loved us enough to give His son’s life for ours so we can spend eternity with Him, who has kept track of your every tear? Why are we afraid to believe for more? I believe it is one more of Satan’s tools to get us to believe that ‘God just doesn’t do those types of things for people any more’. He’s not interested in showing Himself mighty ~ really? And just why would that be? He doesn’t care? How much do we insult Him with our unbelief? And then the crazy thing is ……. we don’t believe so half the time we won’t even ask because it is a seemingly ridiculous request and then we get angry with Him because ~ here we are and we haven’t been delivered or healed! James 4:2 tells us, “You lust and have not: you kill, and desire to have and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not.” Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
So, what will you choose today? For me, I am choosing to believe that I serve a mighty God who is just looking for a way to show Himself mighty in my life today! I am choosing to believe that however He answers, it is for my good and that He is always good and always does what is right and best. I am choosing to believe that He is about to do something great, that He will hear my prayers and that truly the best is yet to come!
