Claim Your Victory Today

Luke 4:13  And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

Satan had tried everything with Jesus to tempt Him including twisting scripture and when He realized it wasn’t going to work he left tempting him waiting for a better time.  Satan has time and he will wait for that “right” moment to try to tempt you so it is vital for you to be prepared for battle every day.

Jesus used scripture to defeat Satan, He didn’t spend time arguing and debating, He just quoted scripture and if you keep reading this chapter you see in verse 17 that he went to the Synagogue “as was His custom” on the Sabbath day.  Jesus didn’t neglect the reading of scripture and He didn’t neglect going to the Synagogue, He did what He was supposed to be doing and was where He was supposed to be.  We need to follow Jesus example and not neglect reading our Bibles and making sure we are in a good Bible believing church serving Him!

It is not a matter of if you are going to face temptations to sin it is more a matter of when and you may not be facing addictions or other “big” sins but whatever your weakness is Satan will try to “sift you as wheat” and tempt you to do as he says instead of what the word of God says.

Know this; the victory is already yours!  You don’t have to listen to his temptation and you don’t have to struggle.  Jesus has promised victory and has already won the battle on the cross for your sin.  No matter what you have done in your past (and that includes yesterday) Jesus has already taken care of it and wants you to have all the victory available to you today!  As the Bible says in Ephesians 6:10-18 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

We can have victory but we must prepare ourselves every day and we must pray for each other!  You wouldn’t expect to win a battle with terrorists by going in unarmed and defenseless not knowing anything about fighting and that is what these verses are saying – prepare yourself, the victory is already yours but you must do your part and God will do the rest!

My prayer for all of us today is that we will find our strength in Him and we will overcome the struggles we face on a daily basis by studying His word and claiming victory through Jesus Christ!
