Don’t Miss On All That He Has For You In This Time of Quarantine

Joshua 1:8. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Well, it seems the majority of us are home and with our families for a while with the quarantine around the world.  What are you finding to do with your time?  If you have children at home I am sure it is even tougher some days because everything you do has to be done at home without going to the park or beach.  I homeschool Abby so not much has changed around here since Bill and I also work from home other than the fact that his travel is pushed back a bit.  It is tough though for couples who both work and their children are out of school and daycares are closed, so I get that the struggle is very real!

I have found over the years that when God seems to allow something in my life that changes up my schedule or sometimes even immobilizes me that it is a good time to focus on Him.  It is a perfect time to dig into His Word and deepen my walk with Him!  If you don’t have small children and you have a lot of extra time on your hands this won’t be as difficult for you to do as those parents who do, but we can all do it.  There was a time when we had 10 people living in our house, 5 of them were under 17 and trying to find time to be alone with God seemed impossible until one day God mentioned that I could get up before everyone else so I could have my coffee and quiet time with rarely an interruption.  If you have an infant, I sympathize because it can be very difficult, but just pray for God to even help you find 10 minutes to read a verse or two.  Find a way to listen to a Bible study or preaching on tv or the radio.  There are ways if we pursue the idea!  Determine that when you come out of this, your walk with Him will be much deeper than it was before.  If you have children, your time with God could even be teaching them Bible stories and memorizing Bible verses with them.  Have some fun watching Veggie Tales with them.  Make up a Bible Trivia game to play with the kids.  Make some playdough and have them make animals that were headed for quarantine on Noah’s Ark.  Use this precious time you have been given to pour the Word of God into them like never before!  This could turn out to be a milestone for spiritual growth in your home!

Don’t allow satan to rob you of this precious time you have been given.  If this whole “pandemic” has caused fear in you then pull that Bible out and remind yourself of Who your God is!  “He has not given you a spirit of fear but of power, love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). Don’t buy everything they tell you on the news.  Do what you can to be healthy and safe and pray for those who are ill.  Eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more water and juice without sugar.  Trust God, you are still in the palm of His hand!  Spend more time with Him both in His Word and in Prayer, and in Praise and Worship!  Most radio stations have apps these days so you can still be listening to praise music in your home!  One of my favorite songs right now is so perfect for this time as well:  “I Speak Jesus” by Here Be Lions.  Pray that over everyone today!  His best is yet to come!
