Don’t Miss Out!

Psalm 119:11. Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

How would you like it if as you were falling in love you were given a book that held every bit of information you could need about that person?  I mean, what they like to eat, how they are when they get angry, what their favorite color is, what makes him/her pull away, what makes him/her happy, his/her goals in life……. And any other question you may have, all you have to do is read it!

We seem to miss sometimes just how precious the preserved Word of God is!  So many Christians never open their Bibles other than maybe on Sunday at church or for an occasional “Bible Bingo” question.  How about you?  How often do you read your Bible?  Is it precious to you or is it one more thing that has to be dusted off on Saturday when you are cleaning?  Are you hiding His Word in your heart or on a shelf somewhere in your home?

If you truly want to get to know Him, you must spend more time in His word.  Set aside time each day to read about Him and to ask Him what is on His heart.  Really get to know Him!  He loves you so much that He has put together this wonderful book to tell you what you need to know about Him.  He created you with a purpose.  His desire is for you to walk with Him through life because, let’s face it, life on earth is not easy!

I would love to encourage you today to set aside some time to read your Bible. Make it a priority.  I had to start getting up early, before everyone else in order to find quiet time. If reading your Bible is new to you start with a few verses, maybe in Psalms.  I would encourage you to read one that will help you understand what you are reading.  I picked up “The Jesus Bible” (it is NIV with notes by some godly men) the other day for both me and my 13 year old granddaughter.  I have a few different Bibles, my favorites are still NKJV and ESV, and I am careful what versions I use, but I knew she would be able to understand the verbiage in this one.  I want her to learn to read her Bible, but I also want her to understand it so she will develop a love for reading it!  Don’t make it work and think that you have to sit down and read a lot, start small if need be, and watch your desire to read it grow!  Read the stories in the Old Testament, not just as a “story” but as history!  Allow those characters to come alive to you and allow the miracles to fill your heart and mind and grow your faith in Him.  There’s always more to know about Him!  Get started today!  Ask Him to help you understand what you are reading.  His desire is to show you amazing things in His word so you can become all that He created you to be.

Today I am also going to end with another verse:  “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8
