Don’t Miss Out…

Psalm 18:19,  He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.

I absolutely love reading Psalms!  It does my heart good to see David pour his heart out when he was in despair or surrounded by his enemies and then he would encourage himself and give honor to God by reminding Himself of who God is and the victories God had brought to his life!  We have all been in those positions and David’s example of following God is so real.  David didn’t pretend everything was ok all of the time and as we all know, he made his share of mistakes, but he owned his mistakes and he was constantly seeking God and His presence in His life!  He trusted God and he walked confidently in his relationship with Him.  He knew God on a deep level and walked with Him, thus the reason God called him a man after His own heart.  I want to be like that! It starts by making Him a part of absolutely everything you do every day. Don’t just wait for Sunday! Talk to Him, walk with Him, and worship Him all throughout your days! Don’t miss out on a moment that you could be spending communicating and walking with Him!

God delights in you especially when you are walking with Him.  So often those words are thrown out implying that no matter what you are doing or how you are living, God delights in you.  Well, let’s think about that for a moment:  I always loved my children and I always will, but when they would do things that they had to be disciplined for I wasn’t terribly delighted with them.  I still loved them and I was always going to do my best to take care of them and bless them, but I wasn’t always delighted with how they behaved.  God loves you and He is delighted that you are His and He will always do what is right, even if it means discipline, but He isn’t always delighted in how we live and that can cause us to miss out on His blessings.  You don’t take your child to get ice cream to reward them after they just directly disobeyed you so we can’t expect to directly disobey God and then “go out for ice cream” either.  God’s desire is always for you because He loves you and that means He will not just allow you to live however you please because that is not what is good for you or those you love!  If you want God’s best then you must choose His best.

Do you need to be rescued today?  Do you need to see God’s hand move in your situation because you just can’t take it anymore? Read some of the Psalms ~ just skim through until you find one that just really speaks to you and encourages you!  Hold on to Jeremiah 29:11-13.  Write down the promises you believe God has given you no matter how far back they go!  Spend time in prayer and turn on some praise music.  One of my favorite songs is “Waymaker”!  God is still our Waymaker, Promise keeper, and light in the darkness!  That is who He is and He wants to show Himself mighty in your life!  Cling to Him and His Word!  Reject those negative thoughts today and hold on to who your God is knowing that truly His best is yet to come!
