Don’t ‘Overtask’ Yourself! Seek God’s Direction for Your Day!

Psalm 63:1  O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

This verse would be an example of why David was called a “man after God’s own heart.”  David sought God constantly in almost every situation.  David made his share of mistakes just like the rest of us including some that we haven’t or probably even wouldn’t make and still he was considered a man after God.

I don’t know about you ladies but I am thinking that at the very core of our being as women we have the ability to multi task to such an extreme that we overload ourselves on a daily basis.  We don’t just occasionally have a day where there is more to do than most people could get done in a week, every day seems to be set in that direction.

Lately I have found myself frustrated on some days because I get so busy and just when I think I have accomplished a lot someone has to come along to let me know that I am slacking in some other area I haven’t had time to get to.  I have determined in my heart that each and every day has got to start with my time with God and then throughout the day if I feel overwhelmed I stop to seek God and ask for direction and his peace and calmness for my day.  Without God’s calm reassurance that I am following Him, I would lose my mind when my husband or someone else comes along to tell me that I really need to get one more thing done and squeezed into my day.

There is no better example of living in a dry and weary land where there is no water than now.  We have so much thrown at us to be “wonder women” and have a perfect body and to make sure we perform at a level that is way above what is humanly possible at times that we can end up focused on the wrong things.  Look at it this way; if you bought a new vacuum cleaner and your children accidentally spilled a whole gallon of milk on the floor and you decided to vacuum up the milk and all the rooms in your house and then you headed over to your neighbors and vacuumed her house and you continued like that for several days it wouldn’t take long before your vacuum would quit and never work again.  No matter how great the vacuum was when you bought it, it wasn’t made to do all of that!  God didn’t make you to be wonder woman and you can accomplish great things if you focus on God and only God.  Seek out what He expects out of you not everyone else.  You will never please everyone so seek only to please Him!

Hunger and thirst after God, not all the other things people expect out of you or what the world places on us.  God made you to be beautiful inside and out and if you will just seek Him with a passion you will find the rest will all fall into place.
